New Installation of CedarTwin Laminated Fibreglass Shingles

When we were called to replace this roof our customer wanted a roof to replace his cedar shake roof. His needs was for a long lasting replacement but with a more conscious budget.

On presenting the CedarTwin it met all the customers' needs.

1. The roof had a fully transferable lifetime warranty - that's the lifetime of the home!
2. The product when installed had a textured appearance that created curb appeal
3. The price was less than cedar shakes even though the roof had to be sheeted in

New Installation of Old Growth Cedar Shakes

On this home the customer had a real need to replace his existing Cedar Shake Roof with a new one.

They had three concerns in the replacement:

1. The style of the home "called for" Cedar Shakes
2. Cedar would maintain the unique neighbourhood but
3. The existing roof only lasted a mere 15 years before needing replacement and they did not want to go through the process again. Everybody was advising them that there was no good cedar available

The Penfolds Technical Advisor acknowledged and agreed with all their concerns.

At the time of providing the estimate Penfolds Roofing suggested three alternate cedar shake for consideration. All three quoted products were old growth cedar shakes, with the only difference being the cut of the product.

Penfolds Roofing replaced the roof with a custom cut 7/8" Tapersawn Cedar Shake and provided a 30-year written warranty to their customers.

New Installation of Ziplok Roofing^TM

When we were called to replace this roof we were asked to replace the existing Tar and Gravel roof with Torch On. On inspection by our Technical Advisor we noticed that the roof had a very low slope of 2 in 12.

We quoted our ZipLok Standing Seam Metal roofing system in place of the conventional Tar & Gravel or the Torch On roofing.

Our customers were ecstatic.

1. The roof was a permanent replacement - no need to go through another re-roof
2. A continuous ridge vent was cut in which reduced the uncomfortable heat build up in the summer months
3. The roof will not gather any more moss
4. The price was only about 20% more expensive than the conventional Torch On Roof - a no-brainer" and most of all
5. They were able to select a colour of their choice which will increase the curb appeal of the home

Today, Penfolds Roofing continue to be referred by our happy customers.

New Installation of EcoRoof® Rubber Shakes

This home was in an upscale neighbourhood and a Cedar Shake looking product was the only product that would meet the needs of the customer and the neighbourhood. Furthermore our customer had intentions of remaining in the home for a long time and did not want to go through the re-roof process again.

The Penfolds Roofing Technical Advisor provided three alternatives for consideration:

1. Replace the roof with Cedar Shakes again or
2. Replace the roof with a "Shake Profile" metal Roof or
3. Replace the roof with the EcoRoof Rubber Shakes

Our customer had no hesitation in choosing the EcoRoof even though it was the most expensive alternative. The benefit of never having to replace the roof again far outweighed the 15% premium on the cedar shake roof. Also, on inspecting similar installations it was difficult to tell the EcoRoof apart from a cedar shake roof.

The metal roof option was dismissed due to its price and most important because the roof dented when walked on.
