Slate Roof
Slate is a type of fine grained rock that can be split into thin rectangular pieces and mounted on a roof like shingles. It has been used as a roofing material in Europe for centuries and creates an extremely long lasting roof. It is however extremely expensive, very heavy weight and requires unique skills to apply.
Today there are many imitation slate products, the most common being the EcoRoof or EuroSlate which imitates very closely the look of authentic slate. This product is manufactured from recycled rubber tires and offers all the benefits of the conventional Slate roof except that it is lightweight and is far more affordable than the conventional Slate Roof.
