Insulation creates a protective “blanket” around the house cavity. Contrary to popular belief, the roof should not be viewed as an insulation provider. Insulation is placed on top of the ceiling in the attic cavity and should be about 14” thick. As well, when the home is first built, insulation should be placed between the studs in the wall cavity. It’s sole purpose is to provide a comfortably warm home in the cooler and cold months of the year. This blanket retains the warmth in the home and in so doing reduces the heating costs in the home.
