Our Story
1937
Penfolds is established by Frank Harold Penfold, a former policeman and wholesale salesman
1940-50’s
Penfolds is responsible for re-roofing more than ½ the homes in Vancouver; to service this volume, materials were shipped by boxcar from Quebec
1967
Penfolds turns 30!
1974
Mr. Penfolds passed away and the company is taken over by Dusty Hutt, a Penfolds’ salesman
1987
Penfolds’ golden anniversary, 50 years in business and Dusty is looking to ‘slow’ down.
1990
Penfolds is acquired by the current president and owner, Ken Mayhew.
1993
Penfolds acquires an office building on Vernon Drive in Vancouver to accommodate the growth and serve as its head office.
1997
Penfolds’ celebrates its Diamond anniversary, 60 years in business and launches the innovative, rubber EcoRoof.
1998
Penfolds launched their own brand of laminated shingles: CedarTwin which proves to be a top seller in the marketplace with close to 30 million sq ft. installed over the next 20 years
2004
Shaun Mayhew arrives at Penfolds to help his father run and grow the family business.
2012
75 years in business! Penfolds celebrates by establishing PRI Warranty Corporation, giving customers added protection and extra peace of mind
2015
Penfolds expands into residential and commercial solar panels encouraging the use of a cleaner renewable energy source
2016
The Penfolds’ vehicle fleet is converted into propane further reducing the organization’s carbon footprint
2017
